How often will you hear an orchestral conductor implore an orchestra to “sing?” In a long and treasured relationship with the musicians of the Atlanta Symphony, I have rarely the need to invoke the human voice, such is this remarkable orchestra’s intuitive ability to float and modulate phrases. Their long and unique bond with the legendary Robert Shaw continues to inform their playing, and of course there is their beloved sister organization, one of the finest choruses in the world, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. I simply adore this chorus.

Our journeys together to Berlin at the invitation of the Berlin Philharmonic live on in me as some of the most fulfilling concerts in my professional life. Such is the sheer thrill and fun working with my friends in Atlanta, such is the virtuosity and indomitable spirit, it is hard to believe that our musical adventure together has already entered its second decade. And so much more to achieve together.
