BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra

This is an astonishingly versatile and virtuosic orchestra. Our relationship began a little over ten years ago as we embarked on Hector Berlioz’s musical odyssey, Les Troyens at the Edinburgh International Festival. Opera was then as now something quite novel for this orchestra to perform, you would however never know, such is the assurance and brilliance with which these musicians steeped in Beethoven to Berio, Schubert to Stockhausen brings all scores to life.

Of course I feel some patriotic pride to be at their helm, truth is though, this is an orchestra as good as any international competitor. Seems others think so too. In all glowing modesty, how else would you explain the regular invitations to the venerable London Proms to perform Mahler Bruckner and Richard Strauss?
